BPW Franklin Club
BPW Franklin has around 40 members with our most senior BPW Franklin members belonging to the club for over 30 years (and actually formed the club). Our members come from a diverse range of working backgrounds. However the common thread is all of our members are committed to improving the role of women.
Franklin BPW prides itself on being active in advocacy by developing and raising resolutions for BPW NZ's national conference, and thereby becoming part of the BPW NZ agenda to be raised at BPW International's Conference. BPW Franklin has a high success rate with its resolutions at a national and international level.
BPW Franklin is also proud of its reputation as a local contributor. The club raises funds for its annual Bursary Award, which is awarded to a Franklin Woman commencing or returning to tertiary study. BPW Franklin also raises funds for the Breast Cancer Foundation through holding a Pink Ribbon breakfast and participating in the Cancer Society's "Relay for Life".

Made a Life Member: March 2011 Current Work Occupation: Retired Past Work Occupations: Registered Nurse, Horticulture Business Owner Why I belong to BPW: I enjoy the social interaction and the dinner meetings where the members can get their 'teeth' into issues of national or local concern. I feel strongly about women finding their equal place with men in the world while not minimising men's contributions and recognising a bird needs two wings to fly. BPW works towards this. Awards: Daphne Chapman Award (1996), Women in Business Award (1996/97) BPW Gold Key |
