BPW Franklin Inc 2022 Tertiary Study Award
Ashleigh Higgs was the winner of BPW Franklin Inc Education Bursary. She is studying at the University of Auckland for a BA. in majoring in Politics and International Relations and is combining that with Batchelor of Commerce majoring in social change. Ashley aspires to pursue a career within the Ministry for the Environment in the New Zealand government, more specifically the climate change sector. The climate change movement is something she is very passionate about. Once she is employed by the Government, she will be able to have an impact on how the New Zealand government acts in accordance with reducing global emissions and other factors that are linked to climate change. Ashley is a wonderful role model for young women, especially regarding their
education and she hopes to motivate young girls to stand up and stand out, expressing their ideas and opinions on critical topics.
There were many applicants for the annual BPW Franklin Education Bursary and the judges had a very difficult time selecting a winner as the standard was
so high. Those who didn’t win this year are encouraged to apply again, along with new applicants when the bursary is promoted once more in November 2022.

BPW Franklin Inc. 2020 Tertiary Study Award
Since 1987, BPW Franklin has presented a cash Study Award to assist women in the Franklin community striving to build on their potential. The 2023 recipient will be a woman who has connections with Franklin or is a past or present resident of the Franklin area, and who is undertaking a course at a recognised University, Polytechnic or College of Education in New Zealand or retraining following an absence from employment and is a NZ resident or citizen.
The bursary is awarded to the woman who best shows she has achieved and is continuing to achieve in her chosen study and / or career, who shows she needs this monetary support to continue her studies, who contributes to her community through service such as volunteering to community groups and who has the personality to represent Franklin BPW and its ideals.
The 2022 Study Award was $4500
Bursary Applications
Applications for the 2023 Award will be published in October/November 2022
Applications will close Mid-January 2023 and the award made at BPW Franklin AGM which will take place on the 4th Wednesday of February.
Applications will be required to be emailed as one scanned document, if possible.
