Suffrage 125 - Kiwi Women Lead the World
What a beautiful day for a lovely celebration! Thanks to all those who joined us at the expo, along the parade or for the afternoon tea. The organisers did an amazing job coordinating all the different parts of the day. Well done to all those involved. A special thanks to our BPW sisters from Huntly who joined us in our celebrations and Emily (BPW Tamaki) and husband Bobson for being available as official BPW Franklin photographer. Lovely speeches from Vicky and Virginia. What a talented group we have. Photos from the evening can be found here. Red Bag Day 12 February 2020
Red Bag Day marks the period of extra days in the current year which women need to work to achieve the same wages that men earned during the previous financial year. The day recognises how much longer women have to work to earn the same as men in one year. The day is marked in many countries around the world and the day varies depending on the gender gap in any particular country. Equal pay for work of equal value is not just about women getting the same pay as men for the same job, but also women getting the same pay as men for doing a different but comparable job. That is, a job involving comparable skills, years of training, responsibility, effort and working conditions. Happy Birthday BPW
August 26 is BPW's Birthday. Founded in 1930, this years sees BPW around the world celebrating 90 years. See how others are celebrating around the world. https://www.facebook.com/bpw.international/ BPW Franklin also celebrate our birthday in August, 35 years and counting. Dianne Glenn cut the amazing cake at this months meeting. ![]() Young BPW
